Shoot right alongside Yan as she teaches you how to bring out beautiful emotions and connections from your subjects as you photograph a family. Watch as she demonstrates how she works with all kinds of lighting, decor and personalities, yet manages to get beautiful imagery. Learn to plan and direct your subjects in an organic way. Plan to bring your camera and a wide angle lens for this emotive family session.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn at least five strategies for directing emotionally evocative imagery
- Learn how to design your shoot map (i.e. personalize your photographic flow to get consistent results from your sessions)
- Learn how to push your creative boundaries every time you shoot

Fleeting Moments: A Guide to Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Those tiny toes, puckered lips, and flaky pieces of skin all need to be documented. This hands-on course will delve into all of the things related to capturing realistic and timeless portraits of babies. Shoot along with Lindsey Martin as she explains lighting, posing, and capturing the first months of a child’s life. Lindsey will also explain how she uses a macro lens to document the tiny details. As a takeaway, attendees will receive Lindsey's lifestyle newborn prep packet. Please bring your favorite wide angle lens (Lindsey shoots with a 35 and 24mm) and a macro lens (optional).

Learning Objectives: 

- Learn how to capture babies in limited lighting
- Learn natural posing that flatters and enhances family portraits during that first year
- Learn how client preparation and session flow can make for a positive, stress-free shooting environment

She'll teach you how to take your compositions from mediocre to magnificent. With over 14 years of teaching experience, D'Arcy knows how important it is for you to build your portfolio and improve your craft; this hand on shooting class will do just that. This styled shoot includes luxe dresses and florals with a focus on fashion and portraiture.

D'Arcy uses a 50mm lens for most of her portrait work, but any portrait lens works for this class.

In this shoot along, attendees will watch, then practice Kim's techniques for shooting a lifestyle family session indoors from start to finish. This includes how Kim goes into a home for the first time and decides which rooms to shoot in, and how she chooses what elements of the house are interesting to add to their story of family. Attendees will learn where to place their subjects based on limited directional light, how to pose families in areas with unique architectural or design elements, and most importantly, how to foster genuine connection and emotion between subjects using games, play, patience, and more.

Please bring a lens with a focal length of 24-50mm (preferably) to this class.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn how to quickly make a unique, yet consistent, shot list for an indoor family session by doing a pre-session walk-through
- Learn where to place subjects based on the quality and direction of light
- Learn some key family poses to use inside and when to use them to maximize session flow
- Learn new games and tricks  to foster a genuine, emotional connection between family members

Capturing Your Everyday, With a Creative Twist

Shake up your traditional portraits and join Divya in infusing creativity into your photography. Divya will cover how to use your everyday as inspiration to come up with creative concepts and successfully execute your vision. Go behind the scenes as Divya shows you ways to shoot personal, meaningful portraits. Learn how to create your own creative portraits using techniques like forced perspective, shutter speed, shifts in focal planes, and how to easily shoot multiple subjects and props individually to later seamlessly composite together. After sharing her approach, join her for an opportunity to shoot indoors in small groups to get real-time practice of the techniques covered in the class and create your own creative image. Wide focal lengths are encouraged for this session. Divya will use and show how she uses an intervalometer and tripod, but they are not required.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn brainstorming techniques to come up with creative concepts
- Explore ways to take day to day emotions and items, and infuse them into your photography
- Understand how shooting with composites in mind can take the stress out of multi-subject portraits
- Learn tips and tricks from camera settings, setup, and understanding the role of light to successfully capture images that tell your story
- Learn how to shoot individual components to create simple composites
