Fleeting Moments: A Guide to Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Those tiny toes, puckered lips, and flaky pieces of skin all need to be documented. This hands-on course will delve into all of the things related to capturing realistic and timeless portraits of babies. Shoot along with Lindsey Martin as she explains lighting, posing, and capturing the first months of a child’s life. Lindsey will also explain how she uses a macro lens to document the tiny details. As a takeaway, attendees will receive Lindsey's lifestyle newborn prep packet. Please bring your favorite wide angle lens (Lindsey shoots with a 35 and 24mm) and a macro lens (optional).

There is so much beauty to be found in the smallest of details and the most humble of subjects. By slowing down and zooming in, you can find whole new worlds that will open up your creativity and fill your artistic soul. Join Megan as she demonstrates macro shooting techniques. She will cover types of macro gear, the best camera settings to use, how to compose the frame for the most impactful macro image, and how to use different types of lighting to your advantage. A macro lens, macro extension tubes, or macro filters are preferred for this course. Experience shooting in manual is preferred, but Megan will go over camera settings for attendees to plug in before shooting.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn how to use a macro lens or extension tubes to get up close to your subject
- Learn how to choose your camera settings to get the slice of focus you want and avoid camera shake
- Learn the best types of lighting to use, and how to make the most of the lighting you have
- Learn how to frame your image to create the most impactful composition of a macro subject
