In this program, attendees will learn how to create a beautifully curated maternity session by shooting alongside Jessica in Piedmont Park. While utilizing the stone pathways and fresh spring blooms, Jessica will be teaching while she shoots, how she picks locations, uses back and side lighting, and prompts and guides clients in a natural way without using forced poses. Jessica will also teach how she places clients and uses specific angles that best compliment the client. Attendees will be able to shoot the model(s) alongside Jessica while also watching and learning from her. There will be a quick teaching portion to this class in addition to shooting alongside Jessica
You are encouraged to be comfortable shooting in manual mode and should bring along a 50mm, 85mm, 100/105mm, or other portrait lenses.

Learning to analyze photographs is a valuable tool that contributes to the most growth for any photographer. With this knowledge, photographers have a better understanding of how to improve their photographic techniques, and can move forward to create stronger work through self critique. Join Ardelle Neubert to discuss class participants’ images in detail. Topics discussed will be intermediate to advanced level; experienced photographers will benefit the most from this class. You will submit three images, due February 1, 2020, for eligibility to be included in discussion. One image of each participant will be included in the discussion; image chosen by the instructor.

Birth photography is becoming one of the fastest growing genres in photography. Preserving the ability to be welcomed in the birth space has never been more crucial. However, if birth photographers do not know how to handle themselves professionally in a medical setting, as well as on social media, their ability to tell these stories as authentically as they are right now could be compromised. In this class, Neely will teach you how to build relationships not only with your clients, but with the hospital staff as well, from the nurses, to the doctors and midwives. You will also learn how to overcome harsh light, and utilize flash effectively and professionally. Given the intimate nature of birth photography, understanding your client's level of comfort is crucial when composing and curating what images are shared publicly. The class will cover what to and not to shoot, what to do in emergencies, and where to stand in the OR. The course will also cover how to find your voice as a birth photographer.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how to dig deep into relationship building - Learn how to make a name for yourself and gain the trust of medical professionals in the birth community - Learn about consent in depth from the client, to the staff (what the shoot, when to shoot, and what to share) - Learn the specifics of where to stand, how to handle oneself in the birthing room - Learn how to utilize flash, as well as, ideal settings to overcome harsh light and low light, often with quick movements
Fine art is all about having a vision and bringing that vision to life. During this shooting demonstration, Dana will show attendees how she uses light, shadows and mood to create fine art portraits of children. She will work with two child models to capture emotive portraits with the natural light available to her. You will learn how to engage with your subjects in a way that tells a story and captures a specific emotion. Dana will also talk about the obstacles that hinder our creativity as artists, and will provide tips on how to overcome them
This program will take place indoors in a lifestyle suite. All skill levels are welcome to attend.

In this course, you will learn how to create timeless newborn images with a simple and natural approach. Jessica Quinones will teach you a successful start to finish workflow when working with a newborn and parents, from prepping the client for the session, to shooting the session. You will learn the best ways to prompt and guide parents to organically create connection while keeping the focus on the newborn. You will also learn soothing and wrapping/swaddling techniques, and tips on styling parents. While shooting with parents and a newborn (doll), Jessica will show you how to find the right light to perfectly highlight your subjects in the most flattering way.
Students should have experience shooting in manual mode. It is recommended to bring a 50mm or 35mm lens.
